Patent Awarded and New Patient Safety Technology to be introduced.
United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) awarded the patent “System and methods for identification of implanted medical devices and/or detection of retained surgical foreign objects from medical images” - WO 2013082289 A1 to Vicko Gluncic, MD, PhD and Rush University Medical Center in April 2016. The patent is based on research within Rush's Department of Anesthesiology in 2011-2013 conducted by Vicko Gluncic and Mario Moric, which has resulted in multiple publications.
