Drs. Adam Young and Vipul Mangal are two of the three 2010 President-Elects of the Resident Component of the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists (ISA).

Drs. Adam Young and Vipal Mangal, third-year residents of the Rush University Medical Centers's Department of Anesthesiology have been elected President-Elect of the Resident Component of the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists (ISA). Dr. Eric Fanaee from University of Chicago's Department of Anesthesiology was also elected President-Elect for the 2010-2011 year.

They will take office as co-Presidents July 1, 2010 and their terms will end June 30, 2011. As part of their duties, they will serve as Illinois Delegates to the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA)'s Resident House of Delegates which will meet during the ASA's Annual Meeting in San Diego, California, Oct 16-20, 2010. Drs. Young and Mangal will also be involved in preparing and running the ISA's Jeopardy Game for Residents, which will be held November 12, 2010 at the InterContinental Hotel. The game precedes the Midwest Anesthesiology Conference which will be held the follow day (November 13, 2010).

Part of their duties as ISA president is to fulfill the mission of the ISA's Resident Component, including efforts to:

  • Encourage residents to participate in the activities of the ISA.
  • Nurture leadership in organized medicine.
  • Communicate resident concerns to the ISA Board of Directors and participate in the decision-making process.
  • Facilitate transition to active membership in the ISA upon completion of residency.
