Rush Dept of Anesthesiology 2008 Resident and Fellow Graduation

Rush Dept of Anesthesiology hosts
its 31th Annual Resident and Fellow Graduation Banquets.

The 31st Annual Resident and Fellow Graduation Banquet of the Rush University Medical Center's Department of Anesthesiology, was held on Saturday, June 05, 2010, at the Michigan Shores Club, Wilmette, Illinois. The banquet honors the Department’s graduating residents and fellows for their completion of Rush's rigorous course of training. The occasion also gave our faculty an opportunity to express their recognition and appreciation for all of the hard work required of these individuals to successfully complete Rush's high-caliber training program. The diligence, dedication, and commitment of these individuals to our patients will certainly pay many dividends towards their future in clinical practice.

In their remarks to the graduating class, Drs. Tuman and Rothenberg conveyed the Department's hope that the graduating residents and fellows depart with a sense of pride and accomplishment for their achievements during their years at Rush.  The faculty is honored to have contributed to their development and hope that these individuals will continue to grow and strive for excellence in the rich tradition of the Department.

2010 Awards

The Robert D. Dripps, MD Memorial Award
This award is presented annually by the Department of Anesthesiology to a graduating resident who has displayed outstanding clinical and academic performance throughout the four-years of the residency training program. This year's award, presented by Dr. David Rothenberg, went to Joseph Belmonte, DO. Following graduation, Dr. Belmonte will be undertaking a one-year, post-residency, pain medicine fellowship training program at Rush University Medical Center's Department of Anesthesiology in Chicago, Illinois. The Department's faculty and staff extends their appreciation and congratulations to Dr. Belmonte.

The Katalin Selmeczi, MD Memorial Award
The Katalin Selmeczi, MD Memorial Award is a special award given to a graduating resident who embodies the spirit, humanism, devotion and courage that was exemplified by Katalin Selmeczi, MD, a former resident in the Department of Anesthesiology. The Department of Anesthesiology honors her memory with this award, in hopes that future generations of anesthesiologists will recognize what Dr. Selmeczi represented to those who were fortunate enough to have been her colleague. In 2010, this award went to Jaime Cauveren, MD who on many occasions during the four years of residency training at Rush, displayed those special qualities so admired in Dr. Selmeczi. Following graduation, Dr. Cauveren will be undertaking a one-year, post-residency, pain fellowship training in the Department of Anesthesiology’s at Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Tx. The Department's faculty and staff extend their appreciation and congratulations to Dr. Cauveren.
